Check out these shots from Anji and John Wood who were skiing at Crested Butte Mountain Resort on Saturday and caught a bunch of solar optical phenomena with the ice crystals that were in the air! I almost didn’t believe her becuase usually it takes a really cold airmass to do this, but she sent me a video, too! Maybe it was from snow making that was happening, I’m not sure. Regardless – it is awesome!
I see an upper tangent arc, an upper suncave Parry arc, sun dogs, a 22 degree halo and helic arcs. Incredible stuff! Ice and liquid water interacting with sunlight can do some amazing things!
