I've WATCHED the Meister for ions of years now. He is the Best of the Best when it comes to weather forecasting ◇◇ GO MATT!

About Matt Meister

Matt MeisterFor more than two decades, Matt Meister has been one of Southern Colorado’s most trusted and recognized meteorologists. He has guided communities through the region’s biggest weather events — from historic wildfires to destructive floods and high-plains winter storms — always focused on what people need to know, not just what the atmosphere is doing.

An Emmy-nominated and multi-award-winning meteorologist, Matt’s work has earned recognition from the Colorado Broadcasters Association, the Associated Press, and tens of thousands of loyal viewers who have voted him “Best Of” year after year. His forecast philosophy is simple: weather should be useful, clear, and built around real-life impacts.

Matt’s scientific foundation is rooted in his research at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), where he contributed to automated thunderstorm forecasting systems used during the Sydney 2000 Olympics and later adopted by National Weather Service offices nationwide.

He continued building his communications expertise as Director of Communications for School District 49, where he led award-winning efforts in public relations, marketing, and community engagement.

Today, Matt brings that full blend of science, communication, storytelling, and trust to Peaks2Plains Weather — a modern forecasting service designed to meet Colorado where it is and where it’s going.

About Merry Matthews

Merry Matthews

Matthews is an Emmy-award winning Meteorologist that brings a deep background in both local and national forecasting, including the last 7.5 years as Chief Meteorologist at KRDO in Southern Colorado and a five-year tenure with WeatherNation headquarted in Denver, CO. Prior to that, she began her career following the historic outbreak of April 27, 2011 in Huntsville, AL that killed more than 350 people across six states, including ~ 90 residents of Northern Alabama alone.

Due to this experience she understands the importance of radar proficiency during high-impact severe thunderstorms to understand how storms are changing in the moment and what they are going to do over the next minutes and hours.

She is recognized for her strong on-air presence and expertise across multiple broadcast platforms.

Merry is a military spouse and loves being in such a positively oriented military community. Her husband and two boys take up much of her free time enjoying all the wonderful opportunities that Colorado offers. She looks forward to welcoming her baby girl in the summer of 2026.
