24 FIRE UPDATE: The announcement of 24% containment last evening was after I went to bed, I was wiped. But I think we’ll get more announced later today or this evening as crews get another day of hard work in.

There are some areas hotter within the southeast part of the fire early this morning from satellite hotspot detections, but that’s good news. It’s from interior burn operations the crews did late yesterday and overnight. The fire hasn’t grown in size – another indication that there is a good handle on it.
We’ll be warmer today and have lower humidity than Monday. The fire is also in a challenging spot for wind, I’ve got lower confidence today in what is exactly going to happen there as it will be on the border of some gusty, dry, gap flow coming out of Bighorn Canyon in Fremont County and some lighter upslope that develops in the afternoon over the plains. There may be some occasional wind shifts as a result. I’ll keep a close eye on things weather wise.

Use the opportunity of this fire outside of heavily populated areas to prepare yourself.
