POITREY CANYON FIRE UPDATE: Crews continue to work on the ground, air assets are dropping retardant to help the fire now at about 2,000 acres with no containment as I write.

It’ll be good ight ahead with high humidity behind the morning cold front as low-level moisture increases over eastern Colorado. Easterly breezes will be relaxing some overnight, too. However, a challenging afternoon on the way Sunday as an area of low pressure develops northeast of the fire…southwest wind will increase to between 30-40mph and the humidity will be below 15%. I think this change happens over the fire between about 9:30 and 11 am Sunday morning.

Governor Polis has declared a disaster emergency for this fire, providing financial support, management support both during and recovery efforts after the fire.
