SUNDAY STORMS: A little bit better chance of storms during the day to wrap up the weekend compared to Saturday – and our dewpoint temperatures at the surface will be a bit higher than yesterday to help the chances of wetting rains. Some of the moisture seen in clouds will still evaporate before reaching the ground. That means gusty outflow winds remain possible around storms, particularly where rainfall is limited. Still, there is a better opportunity for wetting rain Sunday afternoon and into the evening – we’re being positive!
A cold front drops south over the plains into the evening, and, combined the monsoon plume overhead, some of us east of the mountains should get our best chance of a Sunday storm tonight. Gusty wind and some brief wetting rains should be expected.
Mountain areas will see a chance of a shower and perhaps a flash of lightning continue overnight as the monsoon keeps streaming up from the southwest. Don’t expect as much activity as the late afternoon of course, but I just don’t want you to be surprised.
