If you’re like me, you may have had a bit of a hard time getting into the holiday spirit because of the weather as 2025 wound down. The Colorado Climate Center at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, recently released it’s “Monthly State of the Climate” report and there’s a reason you felt the way you did.

December was exceptionally warm in Colorado: averaged across the state, it was the warmest December on record. The previous record for warmest December was in 1980. All parts of the state were much warmer than average, with many locations breaking numerous daily record high temperatures during the month.
According to the monthly CCC report, “The statewide average temperature was an astounding 10.1°F warmer than the 20th-century average, and 8.9°F warmer than the 1991-2020 average. It beat out December 1980—already an impressive outlier—by 0.5°F.”
The Colorado Climate Center has a wealth of information about recent and historical weather data in the Centennial State.
