No surprise – warmest March on record!

March started ok, in fact we broke daily records for water in Colorado Springs and Pueblo on the 3rd with a decent storm that had rain and snow…then we went quiet and warm especially in the back half of the month and once we opened up the record book we just kept writing in it! We set the all-time March Colorado high on the 26th in Springfield at 98°, besting an old mark from 1907 when Holly was 96° on the 13th of that year.

Our major climate reporting stations in southern Colorado, Alamosa, Colorado Springs, Pueblo—all had their warmest March on record. Alamosa barely saw any moisture and tied its driest March ever. Colorado Springs hit 80° six times—which, to put that in perspective, matches what we’ve seen in all other Marches combined! EVER! The 86° on the 21st is the all-time March record in the city. Pueblo hit 90° three times! That’s never happened. The 93° on the 21st is the all-time March record now.  I’ve hammered what this did to our snow pack…that’s record breaking, too.
