BEAR FIRE: Interview with evacuees

BEAR FIRE: Merry and I were honored to have Linda Rush and Chaz Wakeman, who are evacuated from their homes in the path of the Bear Fire join us during live coverage of the Bear Fire on the Peaks2Plains Weather 24/7 channel. Here’s that interview.

We are so grateful for the quick response of so many firefighting men and women on the ground and in the air and applaud the other first responders and officials who are helping support and assist.

The Bear Fire is located approximately 36 miles northeast of Trinidad and 3 miles east of highway 350 in the northern part of Las Animas County. It is on the northwest fringes of the US Army Piñon Canyon Maneuver site.

Southwest wind that has been gusting between 20-35mph late this afternoon will decrease some overnight. A strong cold front arrives from the north around 4 am Thursday morning with a few hours of gusts expected to be between 20-30mph. This front brings higher humidity and cooler temperatures for Thursday. Conditions will be improving. Hopefully the worst of the Bear Fire is behind us.
