24 Fire Update: Mid-day Saturday

24 FIRE: Multiple aircraft are performing operations this morning, including a helicopter and multiple planes. The fire remains east of highway 115, an important boundary that those managing the fire are counting on to be the western boundary of the fire.

Wind will pick up over the next several hours and once it does, remain through the early evening with gusts between 20 and 35 mph. I anticipate that smoke plume to get more active, but I know a lot of burn work has been done by crews on the ground to prepare for this afternoon. Officially the fire is at zero-percent containment as of late morning.

I’d like to encourage you to keep those on the lines and serving the evacuation areas in your prayers for the remainder of the day as the weather becomes a bigger challenge for the balance of our Saturday compared to what it was on Friday.
