Fewer Storms, But May Be Strong

FEWER STORMS, SOME MAY BE STRONG

As we get rid of low clouds against the hills today we push low-level moisture against the eastern slopes of the Rockies as the instability is increasing. These ingredients will allow storms along the eastern mountains to quickly strengthen this afternoon. There is a small window along the eastern slopes and the adjacent areas along I25, especially in the Pikes Peak Region and over the Palmer Divide where a storm could put some hail down near 1″ in diameter.

Here’s the caveat. If we hit 2pm and we are still cloudy over northern El Paso County and temps are still in the 60s, storms forming on the slopes of Pikes Peak will move east and die out quick. If this happens the threat of larger size hail will be lessened.
