More of the Monsoon: Next Week

MORE OF THE MONSOON

After a break this week, we’re set for another stretch of the monsoon for the middle of the month. We’ve been talking about this for a couple weeks now…but I’ll reiterate – it’s a process to re-establish the plume since it has broken down this week.

In the early part of next week we’re getting it going and storms are mainly over and near the mountains. But as the high to our southeast gets stronger and southerly flow on the west side of the high continues to draw moisture up, we begin to curl the flow across Colorado. Combined with a cool front backing in from the northeast around Wednesday, we’ll really open the door up for storms east of the mountains in the back half of the week.

There’s going to be potential for heavy rain with the strongest cells over a multiple day stretch…check out one model through next week on the precip potential…The bright green is more than an inch…and some spots are likely to get two or three! It’s a good pattern and I’m feeling confident about some widespread rain of note!
